When you wake up in the morning, cortisol levels are high, which tells you you’re hungry. Cortisol is a stress hormone. When it stays high for a while, it can cause weight gain, especially in the stomach.

Yoga can help counter the body’s stress hormones by turning on rest and digesting the nervous system.
